A cave trail in Hocking Holls State Park in Ohio.

Last stop on the way home. My actual camera was buried under too much stuff to grab.

Watch out for fleshgaits and mountain hitlers, I hear they frequent those parts. Here around Mt. Rainier the threats are mostly aliens and draculas, but only at night

Is that like the portals to the Black Lodge in Twin Peaks?

I actually haven’t seen that show- aren’t they remaking it? But I can say it’s like the Upside-Down/Veil of Shadows from Stranger Things

Will you be staying in the area? Have you been before?

There is a season 3, it’s called Twin Peaks: The Return. It’s worth watching, I had tried a few times to get into it but the pilot is kind of slow. Finally made it through it and got hooked though. Season 3 is wild I don’t completely understand what’s going on. There is also a movie that takes place before season 1.

I live in Dayton. We’re taking a trip for our anniversary, leaving the kids with the outlaws. Our first trip sans kids.

We’re staying at a rental cabin. I just hope I can find it....

Thanks for the pictures. I get in the Cuyahoga Valley frequently but need to explore our other parks. Saw part of Tar Hollow in May while at the Zaleski State Forest for the SOFR rally.

I’m in Dayton as well; I’ve actaully been there quite a few times and still rely on GPS to get there just to be safe. If you stop at the visitor’s center in Laurelville they have really good area maps to help. Most of the cabins on on Ohio Rte 664.

Hocking Hills is my favorite in the state for certain. I have been to Tar Hollow, but it was several years ago and didn’t really get to explore much because of the group I was with.

You’ll need to plan on a few days when you go just because of how many areas there are to explore that are spread over a fairly large area. The only place I still haven;t been to is the Whispering Caves area. I wanted to go this year, but my son had pretty much had every inch of walking that he would put up with.

I’d like to go to Tar Hollow with a 4x4. They have hiking , bridle AND Jeep trails. I like hiking but a fun trail run with a Jeep would be nice occasionally. Drove near Mohican several times recently and was thinking I should check it out too.

Yeah, that’s on my list when I get new tires on my truck. I made the mistake of buying Pirelli Scorpion tires and they are crap. They were never great, but now that they’re getting somewhat worn down they are terribe. I need to get the brakes taken care of first. All the hills down there drove that home for me on this trip.

are they formed from wind or water erosion (or both)

It is the result of water erosion. The rock in the area is largely made up of black hand sandstone.
